Introduction
Baby-Led Weaning (BLW) is a fancy name for introducing solids by letting your little one feed him or herself from the start. No spoon-feeding of purees - your little twinkle-toes is encouraged to explore food at their own pace, and you help them along by providing a selection of food in a size & shape that they can easily manage.
In this blog I am simply sharing our BLW journey, the tips I pick up on the way, the food we eat and how we prepare it, things like that. I would love to hear from others about their BLW experiences, questions, tips etc etc - please feel free to leave a comment.

The introduction of plates and cutlery to LO’s repertoire came with much less excitement that I had anticipated. I put them there and he started using them, end of. He is 18 months old now and it was obviously the … Continue reading
We have recently discovered the joy of slow cooking! Obviously we are a little slow ourselves because friends and family have been doing it forever and we look at it like it’s a new technology! We picked up a crockpot … Continue reading
LO is now 15 months and we continue to enjoy the fruits of our BLW journey. Looking back, I think one of the best things I have learnt from BLW is not to stress over his food. Even now (at … Continue reading
I have mentioned in a previous post how I make porridge for my LO, but having now perfected the dish I thought I would share my recipe! Porridge (especially with fruit) is healthy, filling and is our favourite breakfast in … Continue reading
I’m on a quest to find some more interesting lunch and snack ideas for LO and mini pizzas go down very well. In fact, when he had this on the weekend in the company of his grandparents they actually looked … Continue reading
LO turned 1 this week. We had a lovely afternoon tea party with lots of food and I successfully managed to get through the party without giving him any cake, and only healthy snacks. I know that sounds cruel, but … Continue reading
Ok I’m over the whole non-chewing thing. If he doesn’t want to chew his raisins, that’s fine with me. Seems it’s probably quite normal. I’ve started adding raisins (and dried apricots) to his porridge so that he can get more … Continue reading
I’m a little concerned that my LO is not chewing his food properly, although not exactly sure what I can do about this, other than to let him figure it out for himself. This came to light this week when … Continue reading
Happy New Year to you and your little ones! We have recently returned from spending a couple of days up in Taupo with family. It seems that non-highchair meals have become more of a challenge now that LO is mobile. … Continue reading
I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! We had a lovely Christmas day spent with family – a big lunch and a big dinner enjoyed by all, including my little pumpkin. We didn’t offer him any breakfast on the … Continue reading
